An assembly is a service driven by one measurement. A composite terrace per m² expands into boards, joists, fixings and labour; a roof area expands into membrane, battens, covering and labour. You measure once on site, pick the assembly, and the quantities fill in.
- 01In the price book, create a new assembly and choose its driving unit (usually m² or m).
- 02Add the lines it needs: materials with a waste percentage, fixings per unit, labour in hours per unit.
- 03Set the price and see the cost and margin of the whole assembly per unit.
- 04Test it against a finished job: run last month’s terrace through it and compare with what you invoiced.
Why it matters beyond the estimate
- Two people quoting the same terrace get the same lines.
- Accepted lines become purchase orders per supplier with the same quantities, waste included.
- When a supplier price changes, the effect on the assembly’s margin is shown, and you decide once.
